Thanksgiving

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I have eaten way too much over the last two days!

P made a great turkey with all the fixings. She made some wonderful stuffing with apples. Her mom brought some homemade lefse.

You don't know what lefse is? You don't know what you are missing! This is a great Norwegian treat made from mashed potatoes. You spread it real thin and make a very thin crepe out of it. While it is warm, spread some butter on it. Then sprinkle sugar over the top. Roll it up in a cigar-shape and chow down!

It is absolutely delicious! I had it for the first time when we moved up here 4 years ago. Now, I am addicted!

Anyway, after we ate on Thanksgiving, we started playing games. P had bought Jenga - Truth or Dare. OMG, what a great game!! We laughed so hard. (Of course, it probably didn't hurt that we had been drinking since about 11:00 that morning.)

Yesterday, we laid around and slept most of the day. Then watched T3 last night. It's a good movie. Not one of my favorites, but it was okay.

Today, we are headed to Fargo. Gonna go shopping at the mall.

Yes, I know we are insane.

The Salute

IRAQ NOW ...... A Soldier Looks Right Back at the Media.: "Yesterday I took a convoy out on an all-day mission to Al Asad and back. We had some trouble getting lined up for the return trip last night, and were running late. So we didn’t arrive at the outskirts of Ramadi until after sunset.

As you approach the city, you pass a lot of little roadside stands, where locals can buy cigarettes, sodas, produce, juices, or meats.

As we passed one of the roadside stands, the shopkeeper—just a regular Iraqi, a regular guy--stepped out in front of his wares and stood ramrod straight, at a textbook position of attention. He then and rendered a perfect, soldierly, salute.

I watched him from the back of the truck. He stood perfectly still, and held his salute until the last vehicle passed, then dropped it and turned back into his store. We continued on with our mission—delivering supplies, mail, and parts to Hurricane point. He continued on with his—supporting his family and getting on with life without Saddam Hussein.

Josh Marshall says, “We’re all alone.”

I know we’re not."

Wow!

Being A Mom

Rachel has a post about how she is so tired. She is a new mom and things are a little stressful for her.

I remember those days. I had two boys in diapers at one time. They are only 14 months apart.

There were a lot of those days I just wanted to walk away from it all, but that sense of 'obligation' made me stay. I am so glad I did. I now have two awesome boys and a beautiful little girl.

There is no other feeling in the world like the one you get when your child sees you and their face lights up.

One of my favorite memories is going to daycare to pick the boys up after a long day. They wouldn't see me come in, and I would get to see them being themselves without a care in the world.

Then they would look up and see me, and their faces would just light up! It always made me all warm and squishy inside.

You know the great thing: to this day, my sons still get that look on their faces.

I love my kids.

I agree, Shelli

Shelli talks about her fear of heights.

I cannot ahndle heights. I feel like I am haivng a heart attack if I get more than three feet off the gorund. If I am over water, I am fine. But over ground - fuhgettaboutit.

I have stood on bridges several stories high (Golden Gate, Brooklyn, etc.), and looked down with no poblem.

But I cannot even look out a second story window. If we go to the Mall of America in Minneapolis, I cannot look over the railing.

It scares the hell out of me.

Men In Drag

I have always had a fascination with Men in Drag.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Too wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar. Patrick Swayze is one beatiful woman in that movie. And who could forget Wesley Snipes in drag?

Another one is Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. I don't know his name, but the star of that movie, is the bad guy from The Matrix. He is much better in drag.

I have known several transvestites and a couple transexuals. Beautiful - all of them.

i give it ten oh yeahs has just learned all this. I welcome her to the club!

MJ Jokes

Grouchy Old Cripple has some great jokes listed on his site.

Be sure and read the comments. There are more jokes there.

MJ is innocent until proved perverted, but he still makes a hell of a target. Yes, he can get an insanity defense. Because the man is looney.

Tuck him away in isolation for the rest of his life. Let him make his music, but make him stay away from people. Obviously, he just can't handle reality.

The Learning Curve

The Learning Curve is the newest blog on my blogroll.

I just found it today. I will be perusing it much further in the next couple of days.
