Veteran's Day

This is a big day in our house.

I am a Navy Veteran (1985-1989.
My significant other was in the National Guard.
My son Anthony is a Marine with the 13th MEU.
Anthony's father was in the Navy.
Lucas' father was in the Navy
Meghan's father was in the Air Force.
My brother Kreg was in the Navy during the Beirut conflict.
My Uncle Roy served in the Navy during Vietnam.
My Uncle Dan was in the Navy.
I have several cousins that were in the military.
And I am a direct descendant of men that have served in every war since the Revolutionary War.

Pretty impressive, huh?

So, Happy Veterans Day to everyone out there, and whether you know someone in the military or not, make sure you thank every person in uniform you see.

Singer Gerald Levert Dies At 40

Rest in peace, Gerald

I don't think so, Tim

At Dining In The Dark people dine in complete darkness. There is no light whatsoever and you do not know what you are going to be eating.

I think it would be easier to eat the food not knowing what it looks like. But I would have a horrible time with being in the dark. I am so claustrophobic.

But it would be an interesting experiment.

Wonder if they would notice if you didn't wear any clothes?

Interesting

Did you know I am almost exactly half way between Portland, Maine and Vancouver,Washington?

I didn't either. But the last two people to view my blog were each from one of those places. And my Sitemeter tells me one is 1300 miles away. The other is 1302 miles away.

That's kind of cool.

I think Eric needs one for the next Blogmeet at his house.

Happy Birthday, USMC

This is Anthony and my mom and dad at my sister's wedding in 2004.

The other picture is Anthony and his gramma the day he graduated from Basic Training in 2006.

I am so proud of him an all our Marines. They say once a Marine, always a Marine. But I am here to tell you once a Marine Mom, always a Marine Mom.

Happy Birthday, Marine Corps.

Night Repairs?

Daily Sun News - Sunnyside, Washington: "Electrical problems? Just call this crew of eager beavers...well, make that curious raccoons. These four coons were caught one evening last week atop this power pole along Emerald Road, west of Sunnyside. A Pacific Power work crew was called in, and using an aerial bucket and catch pole worked to lift the raccoons to safety. "

$170,000 Pen

College Professor Displays $170,000 Pen: "It's like owning a Ferrari that you don't want to drive,' said owner Al Parrish, a Charleston Southern University professor."
Hello? I can think of better things to do with $170,000. And he has more of these items. $1.2m worth!

And I can't even scrounge up enough pennies to put gas in my car.

Faith Hill is a PISSED!

She is now saying this is a joke, but if you watch it, you can tell it is no joke. As she is walking away that she is still ranting. She has always tried to portray a sweet country girl, but there have been rumors about her in the past. I guess this is just another clue to her insides.

Let's Bring Em Home!

Let's Bring Em Home!: "Please help! One thing I've noticed over the past few months is all the cars driving around with those magnetic yellow ribbons on the back. While I think it's a great show of support for the troops, I find myself wondering if this person really does care about the well being of our men and women in uniform, or if they're just appeasing their own guilty conscience. I wonder if they pop this commercialized logo on the back of their family sedan and say to themselves, 'Well I've done my part.' Because if that's all we do -- a meaningless magnet that we picked up as an afterthought while buying a cup of coffee -- then we've really let down those who fight to protect us from evil.

We need to do more. We need to do more than to just sit on our butts and eat turkey, while the 'United We Stand' sticker on your car window grows more and more faded each day. We need to do more than to set our VCR to record a Discovery Channel documentary on our troops over in Iraq and Afghanistan. We need to do more and you know it just as much as I do."

This is an awesome organization and it can use all the help it can get.

Please donate.
