New Year, New Adventures

2006 was a rollercoaster ride for me. And I'm not particularly fond of rollercoasters.

January started the year off with Anthony leaving for boot camp and me going back to college. Ugh.

February was a fun month. I discovered I really do like strip clubs, but don't like to gamble in casinos (at least not the casinos up here where you have to pay to drink). It is also the month of the SuperBowl. We always spend it at Penny's house. What an awesome time!

March...well, what can I say? I turned 39.

April was an adventure. Meg and I flew to San Diego to see Anthony graduate from boot camp. It was amazing to see the difference in him. He really looks like a Marine.

May. Finals. Need I say more?

June was the month when I told Pat to move out. I had finally had enough. It is also the month that Lucas moved home.

July was spent just trying to make it through each day without sobbing. Depression hit hard that month.

Ahhhh...but August! August is We-Fest! And even though it wasn't the best We-Fest, it was damn close. Oh, and Anthony was home for it.

September I let Pat back in the house for a temporary stay...he is still here. I also started back to school.

In October, Anthony got his orders to go to the 13th MEU. He told us he would be going to the Persian Gulf in April.

November was Thanksgiving at Penny's. Friends, family, lots of love and drinking games. Lots and lots of alcohol was consumed that weekend.

December was the warmest we have seen since we moved to the Midwest. Lucas joined the Marines. I passed all my classes. My dad was put in the hospital for chest pains (again). Meghan got very sick and had to have emergency surgery. Christmas was very low-key. Anthony is home again for the last time before deployment. Lucas was supposed to leave for boot, but couldn't. Now he leaves in January.

It's been a crazy ride, but 2007 doesn't look to be any better. With two boys in the Marines, one of them deployed, it is going to be a long year.

May be a long year, but may it be a good one.

Best of wishes for this year.
