Anyone Out There?

Hello?

Is anybody out there? (Sounds like a song....)

Anyway, it has been ages since I have written. And lots has happened.

Pat & I are back together after a lot of talking and soul-searching and some very strenuous discussing. We are playing it one day at a time and only the spirits know what the future holds.

My van died. It is now a giant doorstop. I blew a head gasket. Wish I had a shotgun, I would just shoot it.

I am going everywhere by foot or bicycle. Although I have been laid up for the last 3 weeks with a slipped disc in my back. Talk about painful!

My son Lucas has come to visit from Missourri for a while. Not sure how long he will stay.

My irritating neighbors from upstairs finally moved out. They owed the landlord a lot of money and left without saying anything.

Work is going okay...nothing exiting there.

I went to an estate sale the other day and bought an entire box of Louis L'Amour books for $20. I put them in chronological order as written and am slowly reading the entire collection. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy those books.

I stopped reading blogs and writing mine for a while because I was battling interior demons. I battle depression a lot. And reading how well other people are doing does not help. I still read Rob every once in a while, because usually he is feeling as fucked up as me.

But I had to stop reading Eric. I was just becoming way too infatuated with his life. Damn! That man just got to me. Not sure what it is about him...maybe just his attitude...Oh, and I guess his looks didn't hurt either! LOL!

Anyway, should either of them read this, just know I have started to read your blogs again and life goes on.

Anthony did not graduate high school this year. He needs one more semester to get the credits he needs. But right after he graduates in January, he will be leaving for Marine Corps Boot Camp. So I was not too sad to see him stay 6-7 more months.

Meghan is going to be a sixth grader and is growing up way faster than I want her to. She is turning into a beautiful young lady and I am very proud of her.

My father is retiring this week after 41 years in the ministry. Hard to believe my parents are old enough to retire. I don't think of my parents as old. But I guess they are both 65 this year. Not too old, but getting closer.

Dad's health is holding steady. No new hospital visits, thank the Gods. But he has said now that if something happens, he will not have any more bypasses or angioplasties. He takes his 21 pills a day to stay alive and we pray - a lot.

Penny no longer needs a new van...She got one. She found a place that gave her a good loan and then they paid for it to be made handicap accessible. I am so happy for her. She deserves it.

Well, I guess I had better get up and get going. I have to go to the grocery store. There is no food left in this house.

Hope all is well with you.

Soooo glad to see a post and a comment from you!

Totally understand the demons thing (see dearth of posts on L&D for reference.)

re: L. L'A books - heh... I did the same thing with all seven seasons of the TV show McGyver recently.

I even know the foot/bicycle thing - my car was dead for 10 of the last 20 months. Although I didn't have to do it with a bad back - holy crap!

As for the depression, well, let's just not go there right now...

Good thoughts for you and Pat. That's gotta be really tough.

Hope you're feeling like you'll want to kick around for awhile. Glad to see ya back!

Paul

Recently back myself. I do bike/bumride/bus/foot it myself, about in that order. That all takes time from writing, don't it? But what hiatus-ed my ass was computer problems of the malevolent, invasive kind. A most generous friend got me back on the waves. May you enjoy timely beneficence as well, enjoy the catchup, dear!
