Dilemma

Okay, here is my dilemma...I live in a lower half of a duplex. The woman that lives above me has purchased a new stereo.

Every day she plays that loud hip-hop crap with the bass turned way up.

We ask her politely every day to turn it down. We have to go through this every day.

Today, they are refusing to turn it down. It is loud enough we cannot hear our television over the top of the "music".

So, do I call the landlord and risk pissing off the neighbors? Do I call the cops and risk pissing everyone off?

I'm at a loss and I am getting migraines from the pounding of the bass.

HELP!!

UPDATE:
I ended up calling my landlord. I couldn't handle the music at all.

They ended up moving their party over to her boyfriends five bedroom house (!!!!). Why weren't they over there to start with???????

Duh.

Okay, so once upon a time, I had this situation in my life.

I decided to play "I challenge you" in the most testosterone kind of way!

Every time the neighbor's music (or TV or sex or whatever) was too loud, I would turn up my "Beverly Hills: 90210" or "Roseanne" or "The People's Court" or something just obnoxious.

And I mean... LOUD.

What I found was the BEST way to get the neighbors to turn DOWN their stuff was to hear MY stuff turned WAY too up.

Yes, it was obnoxious, but it worked.

And no one could complain, because any complaint was going to yield a conversation about what loudness came first and from where... and, well, it worked.

Just a tip from someone who has FINALLY found a good place to live in, where this sort of thing is a non-issue (for once). Yay!

I tried that...I figured she would get sick of really loud Metallica (which I hate), but all she did was pat me on the back for rocking out!
