Flooding

Here in South Central Minnesota, we are having some trouble with a little bit of water.

The river is the highest it has been since 1965.

This year, from December through April, we received 6.11” of rain.

In May alone, we received 6.31” of rain.

In June, we have only had 2 days without rain.  And most of those days we have received at least 2-3 inches of rain.

Needless to say, I am sick of the rain.  I grew up in Oregon, so I understand that it rains.  But after dealing with snow all winter, it is time for summer!

Granted, it is warm out.  It has been in the 70’s.  A few days in the 80’s and 90’s.  But I would still like some more days without rain!

A lot of the town is having flood problems.  Along the river, they are sandbagging like crazy.  All the bike trails are closed and some of the roads around town are closed due to flooding.

It is supposed to clear up for a few hours this afternoon, and then start again.  More thunderstorms are in the forecast for tonight and all day tomorrow.  Another 2-4”.

Lovely.

Anybody got a boat I can borrow?
